Beck Row Rose & Crown
Beck Row Rose & Crown
North West, 52.37343,0.49449
Closed: 2012
82 Holmsley Green, IP28 8AP
grid reference TL 699 779
The pub is shown on this old OS map from about 1903 (interactive map)
The Rose & Crown closed approximately 2012 and after some time lying empty was extensively renovated and put on the market as a pub. Given the likely local economic downturn with the planned closure of the airbase, it seemed unlikely anybody would take on a "new" pub in the village and this was confirmed when it was found on a property website, listed as a "former pub [...] now sold".
It has been bought by the community and was opened as the "Rose & Crown Community Hub" in June 2017; essentially a village hall (without a bar).
