It was found closed with work going on when visited in May 2016. Signage had been removed. It's understood the pub won't be reopening.

Historical interest
Reported as opening in 1930 (and indeed, 1930 is written on the wall), but earlier listings of a Morning Star in Kirkley have been found. It is not clear if there was an earlier building on this site, or if it could be the Morning Star, Pakefield. If you can help, please contact us.
In 1937 the pub was listed in Kelly's Directory as one of 220 pubs that were retailing beer that they were brewing.
