The Ipswich Arms was demolished and replaced by a shop.
It's also listed in Dog's Head Street.
A report in the Suffolk Chronicle** on 23rd January, 1813 reports the death of the wife of the landlord, W. ALEXANDER on 17th January, 1813, aged 40.
Historical interest
John Suckamore was found guilty of being quarrelsome, disorderly and refusing to quit the Ipswich Arms when asked to do so by the landlady Mrs Read, he was fined 5s and costs; 7 days imprisonment in default of payment. Ipswich Journal, Nov 1865**
Eliza Read, a respectably dressed woman, wife of the landlord of the Ipswich Arms, Lower Brook Street, was charged with being drunk and disorderly. Policeman Fiske said that he heard a great row at 4am coming from outside the Ipswich Arm’s, he found Mrs read sitting on her doorstep very drunk, two other officers stated that they had seen her at 2am and had seen she was very drunk…
