Important Covid information

If all goes according to plan, the first tranche of pubs (those that are able to serve drinkers outdoors) may be able to reopen on April 12th. Though of course, in a situation like this, nothing is guaranteed. The rest of our pubs may be permitted to reopen from May 17th.

Pubs providing takeaways continue to be listed on this page.

Those known to be planning to reopen as soon as permitted are listed on this page.

Brockley Fox & Hounds

Brockley Fox & Hounds

Closed 1988? Perhaps actually 1918?

Hawkedon Rd

grid reference TL 806 552

The Fox & Hounds was built late in the 16th century, with extensions added early in the 17th century. The quoted closure date of 1988 is in doubt; it appears on the OS map of 1905 as a pub, but by the 1931-1960 series it's just shown as Fox Farm. Could the closure date actually have been 1918?

It's now Fox Farmhouse; well-hidden behind a lot of trees, hence the poor (and distant) view in our photograph, as it isn't possible to get any closer without trespassing.

It's shown on this old OS map from about the end of the 19th century. interactive map
