The old Half moon is now a private residence; the building dates from the 17th century.
The 1904 Woodbridge licensing records show that the Half Moon & Star's beerhouse license was issued in 1853. Its renewal was refused in 1909.

Historical interest
An inquest was held in the half Moon and Star, Woodbridge, where on view was the body of William Axon, aged 65, a pensioner from the Royal Artillery. That morning at about noon he had been sitting in a settle in the Half Moon and Star tap room, when he attempted to stand up but as he did so he fell back as if in a fit. He was taken up, but expired in a few minutes with a rattling in his throat. Verdict: ‘Natural Death.’ Ipswich Journal, Jan 1850**
