Lowestoft Albion Stores
Lowestoft Albion Stores
also traded as Anchor Stores
West, 52.47955,1.75561
closed 1994
101 High St
grid reference TM 551 934
The pub is shown, though not named, on this OS town plan from 1884 (larger map).
The Ship is also reported at this address (at least as late as 1874). It has become the Anchor stores by 1891.
As English Heritage's listing says this building was erected mid-19th century, The Ship must have been an earlier building on this site.
Originally the Anchor Stores, the name changed some time after 1910, as the Lowestoft Rate book lists it under that name but it was later crossed out and the newer name added.
The 1881 census information has been included here, but it could refer to the Ship.
