Privately owned two bar free house serving the local community situated a short walk from the town centre and train station. The back bar serves three real ales on hand pump with tables, bar stools and sofas for seating. The front bar contains the dartboard and pool tables which the pub's teams use to play in local leagues. Sports events are shown on large screens. There is a large covered seating area in the former car park at the side of the pub. A Lacon plaque can be found on the outside wall, although the pub was reported in the press as being built by Colchester Brewing Company in 1902.
