The pub is shown on this OS town plan from about 1880 (larger map).
A large landmark building, close to Derby Road Station (which gave it its name). The Railway is a pub with a long-standing reputation for live music.
It was renovated late-2016 and was run as a pub/music venue with live music Friday and Saturday, plus occasional Sunday gigs.
