An inquest was held at Shipwrights Arms in Ipswich before Simon Jackaman, gent & coroner, on the body of William Davis, who the previous eve was riding a mare from parish of St Mary Stoke towards Wherstead when he came into contact with a donkey-cart and was thrown from his seat and received a mortal wound on the head. He was taken up in an insensible state and died the following morning. At the time of the accident he was riding very fast on the wrong side of the road.
