Sudbury Rising Sun
Sudbury Rising Sun
also traded as Sun beer house
North West, 52.03736,0.72493
closed 1980
7 Plough Ln
grid reference TL 869 411
Now residential.
Reported in Last Orders in January 1981 as closing in September 1980. "Deeply lamented by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. May its spirit haunt the GK directors ever more." Perhaps the circle of friends was too small?
There was a house in Sudbury,
They called the Rising Sun,
And in this house for miles around
For the ale the folks did run.
But then one day in a fit of pique
The GK bosses met.
"Dear Stan & Mae, this pub won't pay,
Your Sun has got to set!
The local ale-drinking folk
Were much upset by this.
For now they must go to other pubs;
And drink beer that tastes like ?£!Phil Smart, Sudbury
