John Read was found guilty of being disorderly at the Ashfield Swan, and refusing to quit when asked to do so by the landlord, Walter Harvey. Fined £1 1s and costs of 11s. Ipswich Journal, Sep 1875**
Lord Henniker’s annual Tithe Dinner was held at the Ashfield cum Thorpe Swan Inn. It was fully attended, and seemed to up to the usual good style of host and hostess Mr and Mrs Walter Harvey, the viands were excellent, needing no further commendation. Ipswich Journal, Nov 1875**
