The Hermitage was demolished and replaced with a new house.
Historical interest
Charles Oxborough, alias Barnaby, was charged by Robert David Kent, landlord of the Hermitage, with having unlawfully broken four squares of glass. The defendant said he had thrown the stone by accident, the bench thought there was no proof of malicious intent, and accordingly dismissed the case. Ipswich Journal, May 1870**
