The last landlord of the Vine was Cyril Bowles nicknamed "Crampy" the pub was know locally as Crampies! (information from Sue Canfer).
Thanks to Deanne who got in touch to tell us that the pub was open much later than we had thought, staying open through to the late 1970s or early 1980s. She confirms that "Crampy" ran the pub with his wife Marge; he died in 1985.
