Now residential, the pub was built in the 17th century.
Stuart Forbes was stationed at RAF Bentwaters twice, in the late 1960s and in the early 1970s. The pub was one of his favourites (if not most favourite). Then it was a Whitbread pub and the landlord was Jim Finbow, a real gentleman. It was painted green and Saturday nights were special. Some of the patrons sang Suffolk songs. All the patrons were older, never young ones and they loved to tell WW2 stories.
