Despite its mock-Tudor appearance, this building actually only dates from the 1930s. It was built for a high-class furniture store, Green & Hatfield, which closed in the 1960s.
In later times the building was used for nightclubs under various names, most recently La Dolce Vita, which ceased trading in the 1990s. The building has been empty and decaying ever since. It was finally sold late in 2016 and planning permission has been granted to convert it into flats.
