Bungay Ship
Bungay Ship
also traded as Bottle & Jug
South West, 52.45341,1.43982
Closed: 1998/1999
last owner/operator: Lacon's Brewery
53 Lower Olland St, NR35 1BY
grid reference TM 338 895
Dating from at least 1791, we don't know when the Ship closed, but it was certainly after 1997. From the still-existing signage, it was obviously a Lacon's house, though it's not clear what the significance of the 1923 date on the sign is (maybe when Lacon's bought it?)
Planning permission to convert this pub to residential use was lodged in February 1999, so it must have closed not long before that.
