Robert METCALFE, of the Shoulder of Mutton Beer House (BSE), pleaded guilty to the charge of drawing beer during the hours of Devine service. Defendant hoped the Bench would be lenient towards him, as this was his first offence and the persons to whom he supplied beer were travellers. P.C. Hempstead said he saw two men from the country drunk in the house, and a woman of bad character, was with them. Fined £1 10s expenses.Ipswich Journal, September 4th 1850**
