The majority of pubs have now reopened after the latest lockdown, albeit still with restrictions. Many pubs currently have temporary trading hours; these are shown where known. We also show pubs we know have still not reopened as temporarily closed.

Please note that due to the pandemic currently being allowed to run out of control, many pubs are having to close temporarily due to staff or customers getting "pinged". Please check with the pubs if you plan to travel any distance.

Great Cornard Highbury Barn

Great Cornard Highbury Barn

closed December 2012

last owner/operator: Punch

46 Canhams Rd, CO10 0ER

grid reference TL 891 402

This was a lively and friendly establishment with two bars and separate restaurant. It had six en-suite rooms (b&b) and a safe garden with children's play area.

Although Punch Taverns originally wanted to demolish the pub to redevelop it, permission was refused. It has since been converted into a Co-Op; one of many pubs destroyed by that organisation.

The pub dates back to the 18th century or earlier. In 1899 it was sold, along with its brewery for £92-5-5.

It can be seen here on an old OS map from about the end of the 19th century. interactive map
