Although the government has now allowed pubs to reopen, many are still unable to do so safely, while most if not all are only able to accommodate limited numbers of customers. Many of them are still reliant on providing takeaway food and/or drinks. Some offer deliveries, while others are selling from the premises. This page lists details of those we know about.

If you can give any of our pubs some support through these difficult times by buying some takeaway food or drink, please do so. Our pubs need as much support as possible if they're going to still be there for us when the crisis is over.

Beccles Victoria Gardens

Beccles Victoria Gardens

Closed 1840-1920

London Rd

grid reference TM 422 900 (approximate location)

There are two pubs named as the Victoria Gardens Beer House, London Road, in the 1861 census, with 3 properties between them. (The enumerator has appended (2) to the second one). Both have been included here because only one is listed in 1851 and the correct pub cannot be determined.

A Smith's paper "Inns of Beccles in 1929" (kindly supplied by Daryl Ling) tells us that "what is now Beaumont House was the Victoria Gardens, this has been closed within living memory". It appears this building may now be known as "Bethesda", though we need to visit to check the details.
