Historical interest
The original Shepherd & Dog is shown on this old OS map from about 1902 (interactive map)
The location may also be listed historically at Halfway house.
Eliza Akins, 15, servant to Samuel Levitt, landlord of the Shepherd and Dog, Foxhall was charged in November 1860 with stealing copper and other coins from the drawer of the pub. Levitt had often missed coins from his drawer and therefore searched her room, finding coins, to the value of 4s 6d, between her mattress and bed. She pleaded guilty and received six weeks hard labour. Ipswich Journal, November 1860**
The 1904 Woodbridge licensing records show that the Shepherd & dog's license was issued in 1855…
